Abraham
Gen 14:18-20
1. Melchisedec receives 10% from Abraham
2. Establishes the precedent of 10% offered to the High Priest.

1. God establishes a covenant with Abraham that He will bless him and his decendants
2. The covenant of circumcision is established as a sign of his spiritual covenant.
3. Circumcision becomes a distinct sign of their relationship with God.

5. The covenant of circumcision is given before the law.
6. Abraham was not commanded to tithe. No Levites even born yet. Nor Levitical Priesthood.

1. First mention of the requirement to sacrifice.
2, First mention of instituted mandatory redemption/ tithing.
3. Unredeemable nature of anything dedicated or assessed By God as Holy.
Num 18:19-20
1.Provision for The High Priests and their families
2. No Inheritance for the High priests. God and the tithes are their portion.
Num 18:21
1. Provision for the Levites.
2. No one besides the Levites allowed to do their job.
3. Establishes the death penalty for non Levites trying to serve God
4. No inheritance for the Levites. God and the tithes are their portion. Exchanging Goods for Money.
Deu 14:22-27
1. Establishes the principle that goods and animals required by God as a tithe could be exchanged for cash instead for portability
2. Money can be given in place of goods and animals.
Abundance to Gladly Give
2Ch 31:5-6
1. The abundant blessing made people happy to give.
2. They gave in abundance.
3. What they gave was laid up in heaps.
The Law will remain until fulfilled.
Mat 5:17-18
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Jesus fulfills the requirements

Jesus is Melchisedec in the flesh. New covenant.

1. The identity of Melchisedec revealed as Mashiach (Christ).
2. Retels Genesis 14 story.
3. Establishes the receiver of tithes as greater than the giver.
4. Establishes that the circle had been completed by Christ.
5. The law is fulfilled. There is now a new covenant that is superior to the Law.
6. The Law is fulfilled by the new High Priest who offered Himself.
7. No more any need for sacrifice.
Ministerial Support
1Co 9:7-14
1. Do not muzzle an ox principle reaffirmed.
2. Soldiers do not pay to go to war. They receive payment.
3. Ministers who sow spiritual things are more than worthy to receive natural in return.
4. God has ordained that ministers should be paid to minister.
Filthy Lucre

1. Ministers should not be greedy for money.
